astor Sonja Hicks moved to Ithaca in 1990 and became a member
of the Baptized Church of Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith in 1991.
She was asked to be the Advisor and Minister for the African American
Worship Service at Cornell University and is still serving the University
Community. She also serves as the Chaplain for a seven-state organization
of women known as the Eastern Fellowship Missionary Alliance. In February
of 2000, Pastor Hicks started a new Church in Ithaca, "JESUS Only Apostolic
Church of GOD" 335 W. State Street, where she is the Pastor. She is a
Foster Parent, and has served as a Board Member for Loaves and Fishes,
and the County Office for the Aging. Fishing is one of her pastime passions.
She loves to preach, teach and sing in the church. She also serves the
Cornell community as the Advisor of the Festival of Black Gospel.
