H istory of African-American Worship Service
The African American Worship Service was founded to address the spiritual needs of African Americans on Cornell's campus. We strive to maintain a family atmosphere during our services so that every one feels comfortable, regardless of their religious orientation and race. We also serve as a support system for fellow students. Student participation is important in the overall planning and execution of the service. The idea of having this service originated with Francine Conway, Class of '90, Arts and Science. The first service was held on January 29,1989.

Services are held at Anabel Taylor Chapel from 5:15 PM to 7:30 PM. Evangelist Sonya Hicks (also Advisor to Festival of Black Gospel) serves as Advisor. Sonya Hicks also serves as faculty fellow to Ujamaa. Back->
