CORNELL UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN FACULTY/STAFF FORUM

Statement of Purpose

Recognizing the great influence we have by virtue of our positions on the faculty and staff of Cornell University and desiring to use our influence to impact the university community and, indeed, higher education for the Lord Jesus Christ, we affirm our obedience to His command in Acts 1:8, ". . . and you shall be My witnesses . . ."

By maintaining a Christian Faculty/Staff Forum on the campus for the purpose of:

1. Developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for cultivating our individual relationships with the Lord and effecting a unified impact on the campus.

2. Sharing of mutual concerns and interests with colleagues through discussion and prayer.

3. Providing a forum for communicating information regarding various Christian activities on campus.

4. Providing opportunities for various types of Christian training.

5. Serving as a resource for Christian campus and community organizations to provide speakers, endorsement for activities and programs, etc.

6. Stimulating and encouraging one another to walk in the way of the Lord and to actively share

the gospel of Jesus Christ as we work together at Cornell University.

By investigating and promoting opportunities for involvement with other Christian faculty and staff on a regional and national level.

By identifying Christian colleagues on other campuses and encouraging them to become involved in similar efforts.

By developing an awareness of issues facing higher education and society and by determining effective responses to these issues from the Christian community.

By developing strategies for multiplying our ministries as we, our students and our associates go to the world.
